Gin Eva started out as a small enterprise from a winemaking couple’s garage! 10 years later, Eva and Stefan moved into their own distillery in an old Mallorcan warehouse (still only a few hundred yards from their old garage!).
La Mallorquina was their first gin, and it’s designed to represent the produce of their beautiful island: the citrus fruits of the Sóller valley, the centuries-old olive trees of the Tramuntana mountain range, and the wild Mallorcan juniper that grows in sandy soils near the sea. The Mallorquina is the traditional olive variety that can only be found on the island – Gin Eva use pomace from this ancient variety (leftover from the olive oil industry), which they macerate in neutral grain alcohol, before distillation with the other local botanicals. It’s a beautiful, savoury gin with a slightly oily texture.
