A ‘named’ Côtes du Rhône Villages since 1967, Cairanne was granted ‘cru’ appellation status in 2016, in recognition of the quality of the wines and terroir. A rich, textural, refined and oak aged white made in much smaller volumes than the reds; aged in 300 and 400 litre barrels, part new, part four year old, for six months.
Creamy, chalky floral aromas with an almost meaty undertow, and wet rock, white pepper and grapefruit peel notes. Fresh aromas of fruit and flower aromatics mingle with the spicy and smokey notes from the barrels. On the palate it feels plump fresh and mineral, with spicy, smokey fruit.
