The grapes for this wine comes from an old South East facing plot – the vines range between 50 and 90 years old, and the soil is classic Chateauneuf-du-Pape – round pebbles on the surface, with sand, clay and limestone. The grapes are hand picked, then fermented and aged in a variety of vessels – 30% pyramid shaped concrete vats, 30% wooden vats, 30% stainless steel, 10% demi muids (600L) barrels. Notes of red and black fruit, cherries, blackberries, cassis, a hint of garrigue, leather, liquorice and spice.
